London-based artist Halina Rice is renowned for her vivid and eclectic style, using multiple effects and sampling to create original and experimental sounds. Her NEW WORLDS project is a series of tracks, each with its own visual identity and virtual world, where electronic music blends with impactful mixed reality visuals—and the artist is mapped in real-time into the live graphics. “It’s more the desire to create an immersive experience for the audience and to really produce an experience that transports the viewer,” she says.
Rice mesmerized the audience with her new electronic set in L-ISA Immersive Hyperreal Sound at Copeland Gallery, Peckham, London. Speaking about her experience using L-ISA, “It was a steep learning curve to translate my live set into immersive sound, but I’m glad I made this choice. It was great being able to place the sounds around the room with total control, and the audience feedback was that it really enhanced their experience of the performance. For this show at Copeland Gallery, I worked with L-Acoustics using their L-ISA immersive sound system and a 12 speaker setup. Many thanks to their brilliant team.”
